I practice yoga and I routinely start my day with a morning affirmation, gratitude, solemn prayer and meditation. My heart speaks of gratitude to God for giving me another day to live. IT IS SO GOOD TO BE ALIVE!!!!! I count my blessings each day and I pray for reconciliation and forgiveness. I am a human being, and I may or may not be aware that I did something wrong. I humbly forgive and forget. I always bend down my knees to pray. I am a versatile individual, goal digger, go getter, and a bucket list checker! I love reading the stories in the Bible, inspirational, motivational and love story books.
I am a NURSE by profession. I eaRNed my BSN from University of Cebu-Philippines
way back in 2007. My first nursing job was an Occupational Health Nurse of
Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. at the same time I volunteered in
Minglanilla District Hospital, a small public hospital in the island of Cebu,
Philippines. I moved in New Jersey, USA in 2011. My first nursing position here
was a staff nurse in a long term care facility's dementia and behavioral care
units. A year later, I transitioned to medical-surgical subacute rehabilitation
then to acute care. I have worked in ED-Observation, Telemetry, and PCU then to
an Adult ICU (MICU/CCU/SICU) in 2016. I am currently working here in New York
as a travel nurse to aid in staffing the MICU, SICU, Progressive Care Unit and
Emergency Department. I am currently enrolled in a graduate program at William
Paterson University focusing on Adult-Gerontology NP in Primary Care. Someday,
I wanted to become a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina (
moving there in the next few years, YAY!!!) I am planning to pursue my DNP (God
willing, before I turn 50 =). I love precepting and mentoring new hires and
nurses from my old facility. I am a proud and active member of AACN, ANA,
NJSNA, Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA), and the Philippines
Nurses Association of New Jersey (PNANJ ) -Essex County Subchapter. The best
thing that ever happened in my nursing career was when a patient of mine
nominated me and I have received the most prestigious Daisy Award in 2016. I
got a few nominations as well after that. Nursing is not just my job, its my
calling and my superpower. =)
Aside from continuing Florence Nightingale's legacy and passion in nursing, I
am also a huge advocate for mental health, self-care, work-life balance,
cultural diversity, LGBTQ awareness, palliative /end-of-life care with dignity,
women empowerment, entrepreneurship, community service, traveling the world,
singing the karaoke, zumba dancing like no one is watching.
F Y I. I am an over-sharer. I share on social media about my love for nursing, my family and my life! I break a lot of the rules of blogging by posting sometimes-lengthy diatribes that include lots of feelings. This blog is very much a way of sorting things out for myself and I'm glad to see my over sharing sometimes resonates with people. Every picture or videos I post has an amazing story behind it.
The COVID-19 pandemic
taught me so much about my genuine life's purpose.
I am a nurse warrior. I love
to aspire, inspire before I expire. =)
